Hopping on the KFYS bandwagon...

I decided to do it. I don't know that I'll succeed, but I'm giving it a shot anyway.

I am, of course, talking about Knit From Your Stash 2007. The official rules:

1. The Knit-From-Your-Stash-a-Thon will start January 1, 2007 and run through September 30, 2007 -- a period of nine months.

2. We will not buy any yarn during that period, with the following exceptions:

2.a. Sock yarn does not count. What? You think we are made of stone?

2.b. If someone asks for a specific knitted gift that we really and truly do not have the yarn for, we may buy yarn to knit that gift.

2.c. If we are knitting something and run out of yarn, we may purchase enough to complete the project.

2.d. We each get one "Get Out of Jail Free" card -- we are each allowed to fall off the wagon one time.

3. We are allowed to receive gifts of yarn.

4. Spinning fiber of any sort is exempt.

My additions:

5. Recycled yarn from thrift shop sweaters does NOT count. Afterall, it's a sweater that you bought, not yarn. Right? ;)

6. Yarn for Chris's TBD sweater does NOT count either. Because I know he wants a sweater, but I don't yet know what sweater, nor do I have that much yarn in my stash.

I do have enough yarn in the stash for two sweaters for myself, possibly three if I ever decide what to do with the recycled GAP sweaters that the yarn doesn't perfectly match from (both black, both cotton/acrylic blends, both same weight, but one's 8 ply and the other's 4 ply - mind you, in the striped swatch the difference was almost negligible, other than the slight color shift, so the end result would need a bit of a dye bath to remedy that as well).

I also have sock yarn enough for three pairs, DK yarn for two or three pairs of Knucks, several hats worth of yarn, and enough Simply Soft for either that blanket for Sage or a ton of stuffed critters. Plus specific stuffed critter yarn. And Sage sweater yarn. And Harley sweater yarn.

7. Because I almost forgot - expanding on rule #3 - gifted yarn/yarn bought for me or by me with gift certificates does NOT count. Same goes with yarn bought with store credit. Yarn that I've swapped for also does NOT count.

I think that's enough additional rules. ;)

Will I make it to the end of September? Unlikely. But if I do all the projects I have planned I should come close I think.
