The Yarn Harlot speaks...

Last night, Friday, March 30th, Pittsburgh was host to possibly the most famous knitting blogger/writer ever.
We were slightly late (I was rather stubbornly seeking an on-street parking spot, but finally gave up and parked in a deck around the corner), and their chairs were all filled, as was most of the downstairs area where Stephanie Pearl-McPhee was speaking, so we went upstairs where the view and sound were much better.
I spent the majority of the evening listening to her talking while working on Sage's Jughead hat (I had started it just before we left, and arrived with 5 rounds completed - when we left at the end of the night, I had all the increase rounds finished, and that was with having to tink 3/4 of a round because I wasn't paying attention). We were amongst the last people in line for book signing, and Harley showed Stephanie her little bit of knitting which she's done occasional work on but it's still not much more than 3" long, if even that. Stephanie asked what it was going to be, and when Harley mentioned that it might become a scarf, Stephanie instead suggested that it was the start of a bear, made with varying sizes of suqares. And then she drew a diagram for Harley.

Harley is, suffice to say, very excited about this new prospect and I think it's possibly inspired her to work more on her first piece of knitting.
Sage, rebel that she is, spent the evening playing with the toys at the bookstore and charming the other knitters with her energetic playfulness. Maybe one day she too will get knitting ideas from the Harlot.
